The now-ex Realme India head announced his decision to resign and move forward in his career on Twitter. Madhav played a critical role in establishing the brand Realme and building it from the ground up. In his post, Madhav confirmed that Realme founder Ski Li will lead the Realme India business going forward.

Is Sheth joining Honor?

While Madhav hasn’t mentioned anything about where he will be going next, reports suggest that he will join Honor (once a sub-brand of Huawei) India division to bring back the brand to the limelight in India, where it’s currently not operating. In his announcement, Madhav has said he’d like to contribute to India’s export business, without giving any details whatsoever.

Realme started its journey with the Realme 1 budget phone, which remained a top seller back then and in no time, Madhav put Realme in the top-five smartphone brands list. Talking about Realme’s achievements during his time, Madhav stated:

  • The company became the fastest-growing smartphone brand in the country with over 50 million sales.
  • The brand established exclusive and flagship stores, thereby expanding its offline presence, and was committed to the ‘Make in India’ initiative.
  • Launched a phone in a university alongside the youth.
  • Popularised 5G-enabled phones and paved the way for a future-ready India.

I am grateful to our fans, teams, partners, and each one of you who loved, supported, helped, and believed in me during these past five years. None of this would’ve been possible without you. After a fantastic journey, I am stepping down from my role at realme and I am ready to embark on new adventures,” said Madhav in his statement.

As he bids farewell to Realme, Madhav says that he is still a strong supporter of the brand and will continue to cheer and also help out as a strategic advisor to Realme for its development strategy, global product observations, market insights, and operating suggestions, in his own words.
