Microsoft MD-12 portable mini speaker launched in India for Rs 4,499

The Nokia MD-12 mini speaker which was introduced in April this year has finally reached Indian shores, renamed as the Microsoft MD-12. The portable wireless speaker connects to your Lumia smartphone via NFC (Near Field Communication).  The company already made an announcement for the launch of the accessory in May this year along with the Nokia Treasure Tag. However, at the time, the MD-12 was priced at Rs 5,499, but now the Redmond-based tech giant has offered it for Rs 4,499.

The Microsoft MD-12 portable mini speaker is offered in orange, white, yellow and green colours. Designed for Nokia Lumia devices, it is compatible with other smartphones as well. The device comes with a built-in vibrating actuator on the base, which creates different effects, based on the object and surface you place it on.

The MD-12 speaker features a 1,830mAh battery, which according to the company offers 15 hours of music playback.

“The MD-12 can fill a room with sound and when fully charged, it offers 15 hours of playback. With no cables required, the speaker is the best gadget for a traveler making it a perfect music player. It also doubles up as a speaker-phone on the go,” Microsoft said in the press release.

In addition to NFC, the MD-12 also comes with Bluetooth 3.0 + HS for connectivity. The maximum audio output of the accessory is at 95 dB at 0.5m.
