Nokia G42 5G, company’s first user-repairable 5G phone, launching in India soon

Notably, India’s Right to Repair framework is still under development, which would give users the ability to fix their devices at home guided by manuals.

• The Nokia G42 5G can be seen in purple colour but there could be other options at launch.  
• The current status of the phone is listed as “Currently unavailable” so we don’t know the price.
• The Amazon listing says the Nokia G42 5G will get two years of OS upgrades. 
• The Nokia G42 5G launched in Europe back in June, priced at €249 (approx Rs 22,300).

HMD Global partnered with iFixit to bring repair guides and OEM parts to customers. This includes battery, display, and charging ports for five years.

Nokia G42 5G specifications

• Display: 6.56-inch IPS LCD HD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate, Gorilla Glass 3 and a waterdrop notch for the selfie shooter.
• Chipset: The handset is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 480+ SoC paired with Adreno GPU for graphics.
• RAM and storage: 4GB/6GB RAM and 128GB storage that is further expandable via the microSD card slot. There is 5GB virtual RAM support.
• OS: The Nokia G42 will run on Android 13 OS out of the box.
• Cameras: There is a 50MP main camera, a 2MP macro lens and a 2MP depth module. There is an 8MP shooter on the front for selfies and video chats.
• Battery: The phone packs a 5,000mAh battery with 20W fast charging support.
• Connectivity: Connectivity options include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and a USB Type-C port.
• Box contents: Nokia G42 5G, Type-C charger, quick start guide, and safety booklet.
