OPPO K14 appears online ahead of K14x India launch tomorrow

Highlights
  • OPPO K14 would succeed last year’s K13.
  • Its certification listings suggest an imminent launch.
  • The handset will be a more expensive variant of the K14x.

OPPO K14x is set to launch in India on February 10th. It’s a new budget phone from OPPO, succeeding last year’s K13x. The smartphone is confirmed to feature a 50MP AI camera, a 6,500mAh battery, and more. It looks like OPPO is preparing to launch another budget phone from the K-series soon. This is the OPPO K14, which would be a more expensive variant of the K14x, and also a successor to the OPPO K13. Both the K14x and K14 are part of OPPO’s budget lineup with catering to the sub-Rs 20,000 segment in India.

The OPPO K14’s launch indication comes from the Bluetooth SIG listing, where the phone’s name and its model number CPH2869 have been clearly revealed. The Bluetooth SIG listing confirms the phone’s imminent arrival, although it doesn’t reveal anything about the device. The OPPO K14 was also listed on Singapore’s Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) recently, suggesting that it’s slated to launch very soon.

The upcoming OPPO K14 is expected to succeed the K13, which launched in India last April at a starting price of Rs 19,999. It comes with a 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 SoC, a massive 7,000mAh battery, and 80W fast charging support. You also get a 50MP + 2MP rear camera setup and a 16MP front camera. The OPPO K13 already offers a decent set of specifications even for the current market, but with brands stepping up by focusing more on big numbers for specs, it would make sense for the K13’s successor to follow a similar strategy.

The OPPO K13 stood out for its battery life, smooth performance, and thermal efficiency, thanks to its built-in vapour chamber cooling system. You also get good daylight shots from the phone’s main camera. The only issues we had with the K13 were no support for NFC, average low-light photography, and too many pre-installed apps. When the OPPO K14 does launch, it will most likely come with ColorOS 16, which would be a more refined software experience than the previous version. OPPO is also expected to upgrade the cameras of the K14.

Since we don’t know anything about the OPPO K14 yet, it’s hard to say what exactly to expect from the handset. But if OPPO continues to price it the same as the K13 and offer notable upgrades, the K14 could be a good budget phone worth waiting for. If you need a phone now and the K13’s known strengths (battery, performance) appeal, it’s still a decent option. However, if you prioritise improved low-light photography or NFC, waiting for the K14 might be worthwhile, assuming OPPO addresses these in the successor.
