What is the Delhi government’s power subsidy?

Power/ electricity subsidy is the rebate that Delhi government offers on electricity bills to keep the cost of electricity lower than the market rate for domestic consumers (or higher than the market rate for producers). Under the current Delhi government power subsidy scheme:

  • Domestic consumers with a power consumption of up to 200 units per month get a 100 percent subsidy i.e., free electricity.
  • Domestic consumers with a power consumption of 201-400 units in a month get a 50 percent subsidy (or up to Rs 800).

Anywhere north of 400 units is not subsidised and you will have to pay the full bill.
