Qualcomm Technologies announced the new Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset, which according to the company is engineered to make incredible mobile experiences accessible to more consumers. The chipset enables 5G network connectivity in addition to all-day use with fast CPU speeds, impressive photography, and videography support. Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset

  • Performance: Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 is the first chipset built on the 4nm platform. The Kyro CPU offers peak speeds of up to 2.2GHz and up to 10 percent better CPU performance for speedy everyday use.
  • Charging: The Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 offers Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0 technology that can juice up to 50 percent of the battery in just 15 minutes.
  • Display: The new Snapdragon chipset offers support for FHD+ displays with a 120Hz refresh rate. This should offer improved clarity and smooth, seamless scrolling.
  • Camera: The new chipset supports electronic image stabilisation and faster autofocus. These are claimed to offer blur-free clearer images, even with moving subjects. For the first time in the 4-series, Multi Camera Temporal Filtering (MCTF) is built into the hardware – providing noise reduction for high-quality videos.
  • AI: There are new AI enhancements such as AI-based low-light for crisp, detailed images in dim environments. AI-enhanced background noise removal will ensure that users are heard clearly on calls and videos.
  • Connectivity: The new chipset is powered by the Snapdragon X61 5G Modem-RF System and there’s Qualcomm Wi-Fi 5 for fast and strong Wi-Fi connectivity for gaming, streaming, and more.

Availability: As said, Redmi and Vivo will adopt the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2, and commercial devices are expected to be announced in the second half of 2023. As per reports, the Redmi Note 12R will be the first phone to feature the processor.
