Qualcomm on Thursday announced the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3, the most powerful chipset yet in the Snapdragon 7 series. The announcement comes shortly after Qualcomm launched the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC in China. The new Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 chipset offers performance upgrades with a focus on on-device generative AI. It’s also the first Snapdragon 7-series chipset to support Wi-Fi 7.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 specifications, features

  • AI: AI is in focus here with the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 equipped with on-device generative AI. It also supports several large language models (LLMs) and
    large vision models (LVMs). The chipset is also capable of AI-powered multi-language translation and transcription. 
  • Performance: Qualcomm says the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 has a 15 percent improved Kyro CPU and 45 percent Adreno GPU. It has 1 prime core up to 2.8GHz, four performance cores up to 2.6GHz, and three efficiency cores up to 1.9GHz. 
  • In terms of RAM and storage, it supports up to 24GB LP-DDR5x RAM and UFS 4.0 storage.
  • Gaming: The chipset features the ‘Game Post Processing Accelerator’ that helps deliver visual effects like bloom, depth, and motion blur. It’s also equipped with the ‘Adreno Frame Motion Engine 2.0’ which helps improve content at twice the framerate but without draining power. 
  • Cameras: This chipset can support up to 36MP triple camera, 64MP + 36MP dual camera, 108MP single camera, and up to 200MP photos. It also features AI-based face detection, Google Ultra HDR photo capture, 4K HDR video capture, and more. 
  • Connectivity: It’s equipped with the Snapdragon X63 5G Modem-RF System, and the chipset brings Wi-Fi 7 support for the first time on a Snapdragon 7-series. 
  • Display: The Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 supports up to QHD+ display at 120Hz display, and 4K at 60Hz. It also comes with HDR10, HDR10+, HDR vivid, and Dolby Vision.

Smartphones launching with Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 SoC

The first phones confirmed to use the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 chipset will be from OnePlus, realme and SHARP. There’s no officially confirmed phone yet but the Realme GT Neo 6 SE is rumoured to launch with this chipset.
