Reno 11 5G vs Redmi Note 13 Pro+: display

Realme 12 Pro+: Realme 12 Pro+ has a 6.7-inch FHD+ curved OLED display with 2412×1080 pixels resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, 360Hz touch sampling rate, 1260Hz instant touch sampling rate, 2160Hz PWM dimming, 100 percent DCI-P3 colour gamut, and up to 950 nits brightness.

Redmi Note 13 Pro+: The Redmi Note 13 Pro+ flaunts a 6.67-inch 1.5K curved OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling rate, up to 1800 nits peak brightness, 1920Hz high-frequency PWM dimming, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.

Conclusion: The Realme 12 Pro+ display is on par with the competition. The content looks pleasing to the eyes with punchy colours and finer details. The panel has been optimised with Pro-XDR to improve visibility and there is support for 2,160Hz PWM dimming to eliminate flickering and eliminate eye strain. There is also HDR10 support, which should make the content on Netflix and Prime Video pleasing to watch.

On the other hand, the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ offers up to 1850 nits peak brightness. There is also support for HDR10+ and Dolby Vision for an immersive movie viewing experience. Unlike the Realme 12 Pro+, the Redmi phone offers a 1.5K resolution screen, which should make the content and everything on the screen look sharp.

Redmi Note 13 Pro+ takes an edge in the display department.

Realme 12 Pro+ vs Redmi Note 13 Pro+: performance

Realme 12 Pro+: The Realme 12 Pro+ is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 4nm Mobile Platform with Adreno 710 GPU. The chipset is paired with 8GB/12GB LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB/256GB UFS 3.1 storage.

Redmi Note 13 Pro+: The Redmi Note 13 Pro is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7200-Ultra 4nm processor with Mali-G610 MC4 GPU. The chipset is paired with up to 12GB RAM and 512GB storage.

Conclusion: Our review of the Realme 12 Pro+ notes the performance of the phone is impressive. There were no app crashes or stutters in the UI. The handset was able to handle even demanding tasks like multitasking and gaming. The chipset sits slightly below the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 2. The Realme phone has managed to score 947 and 2891 scores in Geekbench single and multi-core segments and 651352 in the AnTuTu platform. The CPU has throttled to 86 percent of its max power, which is quite good.

However, the Dimensity 7200-Ultra on the Redmi Note 13 Pro is a much more powerful chipset. The phone scored 715627 in the AnTuTu round and 1127 and 2690 points in the single and multi-core rounds on Geekbench. These scores are higher (except for the Geekbench multi-core) than the Realme 12 Pro+. The CPU has throttled to 86 percent of its max power on the Note 13 Pro+.

Putting aside the benchmark numbers, the performance of both phones is quite impressive and should be able to handle everyday tasks. You can either of the phone and be satisfied but if these numbers mean a lot to you, the Redmi phone should be your choice.

Realme 12 Pro+ vs Redmi Note 13 Pro+: cameras

Realme 12 Pro+: The Realme 12 Pro+ features a 50MP Sony IMX890 primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture, OIS, an 8MP ultra-wide camera with f/2.2 aperture, and a 64MP Omnivision OV64B 3X periscope telephoto lens with 6X in-sensor zoom, up to 120x zoom, f/2.6 aperture, and LED flash. There is a 32MP shooter on the front for selfies and video chats.

Redmi Note 13 Pro+: The Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 200MP Samsung HP3 primary sensor with OIS, an 8MP ultra-wide angle camera with f/2.2 aperture, and a 2MP macro camera. There is a 16MP snapper on the front for selfies and video chats.

Conclusion: Our review says the Realme 12 Pro+’s primary camera outperforms the competition in both daylight and low-light environments. The details in the images and sharpness are quite impressive, though colours might seem oversaturated at times. The OIS support eliminates noise.

The 64MP OV64B periscope telephoto lens can offer 3x optical zoom and up to 120x digital zoom. The latter appears just gimmicky as the images don’t look sharp. For optimal results, the 3x optical zoom is the sweet spot. The 71mm equivalent focal length captures images with a good dynamic range and consistent colours. The 32MP selfie shooter offers sharp and crisp selfies in any lighting condition.

In comparison, thanks to the 200MP primary sensor, the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ captures sharper details and more light. The 200MP mode produces clearer details with less noise and more readable text at a distance. However, there are times when one can notice overexposed patches. The low-light images are decent but the colour-tones are not very accurate in a slightly dim environment. The other sensors do a fair job in favourable lighting conditions. The 16MP images from the front camera are decent but are not up to the mark in low-light situations.

On the whole, the Realme 12 Pro+ images look more eye-pleasing. The telephoto periscope lens is a cherry on the top and adds functionality to the camera system.

Realme 12 Pro+ vs Redmi Note 13 Pro+: battery, software

Realme 12 Pro+: The Realme 12 Pro+ 5G packs a 5,000mAh battery with 67W fast charging. The handset runs on Android 14-based Realme UI 5.0 custom skin out of the box.

Redmi Note 13 Pro+: The Redmi Note 13 Pro+ has a 5000mAh battery with 120W fast charging support. The phone boots Android 13-based on MIUI custom skin.

Conclusion: The Realme phone boots the latest Android OS compared to the Redmi offering. Both phones offer the same 5000mAh battery cells and will easily last an entire day with moderate to casual usage. However, the Redmi phone comes with a faster 120W fast charging speed, which roughly takes 30 minutes to fully charge. While the 67W on the Realme model fully charged the battery within an hour.

So if you want the latest OS, the Realme phone is your choice but the charging speeds will be slightly more than 30 minutes of the Redmi model.

Verdict

Both Redmi Note 13 Pro+ and Realme 12 Pro+ are great mid-range options. But we would pick the Realme phone, thanks to the fully functional set of rear cameras with a 64MP telephoto periscope lens. The Realme 12 Pro+ offers a fantastic design, with a leather finish and an eye-catching circular camera module, which is designed by renowned Ollivier Saveo, an international luxury watch design master.

The phone is also quite powerful to handle most tasks, including light gaming. The curved display panel offers a premium feel while using. The handset also boots the latest Android 14 OS out of the box so you don’t have to wait for updates.
