Realme at the Qualcomm event in India today announced it plans to soon launch a smartphone with the new Snapdragon 720G chipset. The handset is going to be among the first to rock the latest mid-range SoC from the chipmaker. The Snapdragon 720G is a watered-down version of last year's Snapdragon 730G gaming-focused chipset. The SoC touts smooth HDR gameplay, dynamic colour range, immersive in-game environments, and high-quality synchronised sound with Qualcomm aptXTM Adaptive. While Realme hasn't revealed the name of the device yet, possibilities are it could be Realme 6 – the successor to the Realme 5 series.
"We were the first brand to launch a smartphone-based on the Snapdragon 665 with the Realme 5 series in India. Talking about the Snapdragon 720G SoC, it's forged using 8nm process and "upgraded CPU architecture." This is paired with Qualcomm Snapdragon Elite Gaming features and intelligent performance. The chipset also features HDR viewing, super-smooth video streaming with the Qualcomm Spectra 350L ISP, ability to capture 4K video or photos with a massive 192-megapixel sensor. Additionally, the Snapdragon 720G rocks the latest 5th generation Qualcomm AI Engine with the improved Qualcomm Hexagon Tensor Accelerator that will enable a host of new "AI experiences for gaming, photography, voice assistants, and virtually always-on contextual awareness," per Qualcomm.
The chipset houses a Snapdragon X15 LTE modem that supports a download speed of up to 800Mbps, Wi-Fi 6 features, and FastConnect 6200 subsystem to virtually double the Wi-Fi speed and range for online gaming as well as web browsing. Lastly, the Snapdragon 720G is integrated with Bluetooth 5.1 and "advanced audio capabilities."
