A top executive at Xiaomi has clarified that the Redmi K50 powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC will launch first. Read on to know more.
According to Xiaomi executive Lu Weibing, the company has planned to launch the Redmi K50 devices with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset from Qualcomm. The Dimensity 9000 powered variants of the Redmi K50 will follow later. The exact reason for the distribution of the launch is however unknown. One could also quickly discover that the Redmi K50 lineup is expected to consist of multiple models and so far has been speculated to come with various processing units, the likes of which are - the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, the Dimensity 9000, the Dimensity 8000, the Dimensity 7000 and the Snapdragon 870.
The Redmi K50 series is expected to consist of - the Redmi K50, K50 Pro, K50 Pro+ and K50 Gaming Edition. The Redmi K50 Pro+ is expected to deploy the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC while the Redmi K50 Pro might get the Dimensity 9000 SoC from MediaTek or the Snapdragon 870 SoC from Qualcomm. The Dimensity 9000 SoC might also make a place in the Redmi K50 Gaming Edition. Lastly, the vanilla Redmi K50 is expected to be powered by either the Dimensity 8000 or the Dimensity 7000.
The Redmi K50 series is expected to come with MIUI 13 based on Android 12 (expected). Lower-end models will get a 50W/67W fast charging support while the higher and more expensive models will benefit from a 120W fast charging support. The device is expected to get a 108MP main camera sensor accompanied by other sensors. The Redmi K50 Pro can be launched as a rebadged POCO.
