The Redmi Note 15 series launched in India earlier this year. The brand is now preparing to launch the Redmi Note 15 SE 5G, so the lineup is still fresh in the market. That isn’t stopping the rumour mill from leaking out details about the successor, the Redmi Note 16 series. Although not explicitly revealed, tipster Digital Chat Station has shared exclusive details about a new phone in testing, which is believed to be the Redmi Note 16 Pro lineup.
Redmi Note 16 Pro battery details
According to the leak shared by DCS, a new smartphone with a 10,000mAh battery, 100W fast charging support, and a 200MP camera is being tested currently. DCS has mentioned neither the phone’s name nor the brand’s identity. However, going through the comments, you’ll find many mentions of Redmi, and a Redmi Note Pro+ model in particular. If so, then these specifications might belong to the Redmi Note 16 Pro+, which would be the top-end model in the lineup. It makes sense, though, as Redmi would reserve such specifications for the top-end model.

Based on this speculation, the Redmi Note 16 Pro+ would come with a major upgrade over its predecessor, the Redmi Note 15 Pro+, in terms of battery capacity. The Redmi Note 15 Pro+ in China has a 7,000mAh battery, while the Indian variant offers 6,500mAh. A 10,000mAh battery would be a significant upgrade and also a rare capacity in the market. So far, only the Realme P4 Power and Realme Narzo Power offer a 10,001mAh battery in India. The Redmi Note 16 Pro+ would be entering this niche territory, provided more phones don’t launch with the same battery capacity. With companies going all in on batteries, it won’t be surprising to see even 10,000mAh become a standard capacity going forward.
The Redmi Note 15 Pro+ already comes with 100W fast charging support and a 200MP camera, so these won’t necessarily be upgrades. But since these are already good specs, it isn’t disappointing either.
It’s still too early to judge, and the leak doesn’t have concrete details either, especially about the phone’s identity. So we can’t make any assumptions yet, but it does suggest that Redmi might be planning to go aggressive with the next Note series. With a 10,000mAh battery, the Redmi Note 16 Pro series would definitely have a major edge over competing phones. So it’s definitely worth watching out for the Redmi Note 16 Pro series.
Given these are early leaks, current Redmi Note 15 users shouldn’t necessarily hold off on a purchase if they need a new phone immediately. However, if extreme battery life is your absolute top priority and you can afford to wait several months for official announcements, keeping a close eye on the Note 16 series could be worthwhile.
