As expected, Samsung has unveiled its new Galaxy C series with the launch of the Galaxy C5 in China. Similar to its Galaxy A series which offer mid-range smartphones, the new Galaxy C5 also sports a premium metal unibody construction that measures just 6.7mm around the waist. The phone also boasts a fingerprint sensor, which is integrated into the home button of the device.

As far as the specs go, the Samsung Galaxy C5 sports a 5.2-inch full HD Super AMOLED display. It comes in 32GB and 64GB internal memory variants, which both offer microSD cards for further storage expansion. Performance is handled by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 SoC, coupled with 4-gigs of RAM and an Adreno 405 GPU.

The Galaxy C5 sports a 16-megapixel primary snapper with a dual-tone LED flash and f/1.9 aperture. For selfies and video calling, it gets an 8-megapixel secondary snapper on the front with f/1.9 aperture. Connectivity-wise, it offers hybrid dual-SIM slots, 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC and GPS. The device is fuelled by a 2,600mAh battery.

The Samsung Galaxy C5 is up for pre-orders in China, and will start shipping on July 17th. The handset comes in gold, pink gold, grey or silver colours. The phone’s 32GB and 64GB variants have been priced at 2,199 CNY (around Rs 22,500) and 2,399 CNY (approx. Rs 24,550) respectively. There’s no word if and when the brand plans to release it outside China at the moment.
