Samsung is expected to launch its latest flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S20, in February. Now, amidst all the extensive leaks about the various variants of the smartphone, a new leak has disclosed all the specifications of the 5G variants of the Samsung Galaxy S20 – the base Galaxy S20 5G, the mid-tier Galaxy S20 Plus 5G, and the top-of-the-line Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G.
Beginning with the Samsung Galaxy S20 5G, the leaked specifications state a 6.2-inch, WQHD+ Infinity-O display with a Dynamic AMOLED panel, 120Hz refresh rate, 563ppi pixel density, 20:9 aspect ratio and screen resolution of 3,200 x 1,440 pixels. The new generation Samsung Exynos 990 chipset, with integrated 5G modem, will power the device. While RAM variants have not been mentioned, the report reveals 128GB native storage and up to 1TB external storage support. The rear camera is expected to be a triple rear camera unit, with 12-megapixel primary, 64-megapixel telephoto and 12-megapixel ultra-wide units. The camera capabilities include up to 3x optical zoom, 30x digital zoom, and video recording at up to 8K, 30fps. On the front is said to be a 10-megapixel camera with 4K, 60fps video recording. Other features of the smartphone include Dolby Atmos-certified stereo speakers made by AKG, a 4,000mAh battery, IP68-rated water resistance and Samsung's latest interface version – OneUI 2.0, based on Android 10.
The Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus 5G largely shares similar specs with the Galaxy S20, but with key differences. The S20 Plus uses the same display panel, but at a larger size of 6.7 inches. To the rear, the camera setup features an additional 3D time of flight (ToF) camera. The device also features a larger battery, at 4,500mAh. Apart from these factors, the Galaxy S20 Plus retains the same specifications set as the S20.
The Galaxy S20 Ultra, meanwhile, features an even larger, 6.9-inch display. Native storage option goes up to 512GB, and battery size is even larger, at 5,000mAh. The biggest difference, however, appears to be in the front and rear cameras. To the rear, the S20 Ultra features a 108-megapixel primary unit, coupled with a 48-megapixel telephoto unit, 12-megapixel ultra-wide and a 3D ToF sensor. This will reportedly facilitate up to 10x optical zoom, and a mighty impressive 100x digital zoom. The front camera sensor will reportedly use a 40-megapixel sensor.
With these sets of specifications, the Samsung Galaxy S20 flagship lineup looks to be a fairly strong proposition. What remains to be seen is whether the non-5G variants differ in specifications from the 5G variants reported here. Things should come to light regarding how Samsung will line its devices up, when these are unveiled next month.
