Samsung car crash detection feature
- Samsung is working on a car crash detection feature according to evidence discovered by Mishaal Rahman. As detailed in this report, the first clue was spotted in the Tasker app, which included a “”Car Crash Detect Wakeup” sensor in the Galaxy Z Fold 5. The same was found on the Galaxy S24 Ultra as well.
- Furthermore, a hidden system app called “MoccaMobile” was found in One UI 6.1. This app contains code for starting and stopping the car crash sensor adding to the speculation that there is a car detection feature in the works.
- It isn’t clear though how exactly this feature will work, and how it will look on the Samsung flagship phones.
- This feature might be exclusive to the Galaxy S24 series, and the Galaxy Z Fold 5 as the evidence found wasn’t present on the Galaxy S23 Ultra. But it’s too early to say as the feature is only in testing for now.
Car crash detection can be tricky since it’s not possible to accurately determine if it was actually a car crash or some other activity that might have triggered the sensor. But it can still be useful for any unfortunate incident. Google’s Pixel phones from the Pixel 4, and iPhones from the iPhone 14 series are equipped with car crash detection. This feature when activated automatically calls emergency from your device.
