Xiaomi phones for 2022 details revealed: Redmi Note 12 series, 200MP camera phone, and more

Xiaomi and its sub-brands like Redmi and POCO are working on multiple phones for 2022. The company had already unveiled the Xiaomi 12, 12 Pro, and 12X smartphones in China, which might debut in global markets soon. Now, amidst the rumours of Redmi K50, Xiaomi 12 Ultra, Redmi Note 11 global models, among others, noted tipster Digital Chat Station has shared details about some of the upcoming phones that are in development. The leak talks about the Redmi Note 12 series and also unannounced Snapdragon 7 Gen1 and Dimensity 8000 chipsets.

The leakster has shared an image that contains 12 codenames of the upcoming Xiaomi smartphones, including Xiaomi “munch”, “rubens”, “matisse”, and “fog”. These belong to the much-anticipated Redmi K50 series (Redmi K50, K50 Pro, K50 Pro Plus, and K50 Gaming Edition). These models are rumoured to ship with Snapdragon 8 series and Dimensity 9000/ 8000 chipsets. Model names like ‘Thor and ‘Loki’ could belong to two premium phones with a focus on cameras. One of them could come with the much-anticipated smartphone with a 200MP camera sensor. Digital Chat Station claims the phones may ship with Snapdragon 8 Gen1 chipset.

Other codenames revealed in the leak include Xiaomi “light”, “thunder”, “Zizhan”, “taoyao” and “opal”. The first two models are supposedly the internal codenames for Xiaomi’s upcoming foldable smartphone — Xiaomi Mi MIX Flip and Fold 2.

The remaining four codenames could be for the upcoming Redmi Note 12 series, which could arrive in the second half of the year. Interestingly, one of the Redmi Note 12 series models is supposed to come with the unannounced Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 series chipset. The chipset has been in the rumour mill and might be announced at some point later this year as a replacement to the existing Snapdragon 7 series chipsets.
