Earlier this year, Xiaomi launched its flagship device, the Xiaomi 13 Pro in India. The handset brought a Leica-branded triple-camera setup, a Quad HD AMOLED 120Hz curved display, and a powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. With the launch of the Xiaomi 13 Pro, its predecessor, the Xiaomi 12 Pro, received a significant price drop in India. Xiaomi has recently announced that the 12 Pro is now available in India for as low as Rs 42,999, but the full discount can only be availed via exchanging an old Xiaomi or Redmi phone. The offer applies to the base model with 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage. The 8GB RAM model of the Xiaomi 12 Pro is currently listed for Rs 49,999 on mi.com and Amazon, and there’s an additional Rs 4,000 off on all credit cards. If exchanging old Redmi and Xiaomi smartphones, customers can purchase the Xiaomi 12 Pro for the advertised price of Rs 42,999.

Additionally, the Redmi K50i, which was introduced in July last year at a price of Rs 25,999, is available at a discount of Rs 6,500, costing Rs 19,499 including bank and exchange offers on mi.com and Amazon.

Should you buy the Xiaomi 12 Pro right now?

In certain scenarios, the Xiaomi 12 Pro (review) performs remarkably well. It retains its impressive large display, excellent primary camera, dependable performance, and incredibly fast charging capabilities. However, it falls short in a few areas, such as poor battery life in QHD mode, thermal issues with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 CPU, and a slightly underwhelming front-facing camera. Nevertheless, considering the bundled offers, the Xiaomi 12 Pro’s current value of INR 42,999 positions it as one of the top contenders in the affordable flagship smartphone market.

Xiaomi 12 Pro specifications

The Xiaomi 12 Pro boasts a huge 6.73-inch AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, 3200 x 1440 pixels resolution, 480Hz touch sampling rate, 1500nits peak brightness, Dolby Vision, HDR10+ support, and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen1 chipset coupled with up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM, and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. Out of the box, the device runs on Android 12 OS with MIUI 13 custom skin.

On the back, the Xiaomi 12 Pro houses a triple camera setup featuring a 50MP Sony IMX707 primary sensor, with OIS, EIS, a 50MP Samsung JN1 ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 50MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom. It also includes a 32MP front-facing camera for taking selfies and video calls.

The phone comes packed with a 4,600mAh battery, supports 120W fast wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and 10W reverse wireless charging.
