Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro launched last week as the company’s latest flagship lineup. The new Xiaomi phones come with the newly launched Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, 120Hz displays, up to 120W charging, and 50MP triple cameras. The Xiaomi 14 Pro also comes with ‘Dragon Crystal Glass‘ that is said to be stronger than Gorilla Glass Victus 2. Now, someone decided to test this by hammering a nail with the Xiaomi 14 Pro.
Xiaomi 14 Pro doubles as a hammer
- In a video shared on X that was originally posted on Weibo, we can see this Chinese creator using the Xiaomi 14 Pro to hammer a nail.
- There are two videos of this experiment with the creator hitting the nail from the phone’s display, and hitting it hard.
- There’s even a slo-mo bit that lets you see the whole thing closely.
- After he’s done pushing the nail all the way inside the block of wood, he also shows the phone’s display. We can see that the Xiaomi 14 Pro’s display is left unharmed, and there are no visible scratches either.
- The videos do seem authentic but we can’t verify it for ourselves. But it was still a fun experiment.
The Xiaomi 14 Pro uses Dragon Crystal Glass for protection, one that’s said to be more powerful than Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and Apple Ceramic Shield Glass. According to data released by Xiaomi, Dragon Crystal Glass has a Vickers hardness level of 860 HV0.025 higher than any used on smartphones. The Vickers hardness test is used to determine hardness in materials.
The Xiaomi 14 series is currently available only in China but it’s expected to come to India as well. A Weibo post of the Xiaomi 14 series teardown reveals the mention of ‘BIS’ on the back panel suggesting the phones will launch in India. The company is yet to confirm this though.
