The official tweet from the top executive said, "Mi Fans, we're gearing up to make your wish come true. Always Believe in the power of making dreams come true. #KeepTabsOnUs in the power of making dreams come true. #KeepTabsOnUs." There's also a dedicated microsite on the Xiaomi India website but it only has a countdown for April 1st at 12 PM IST. Whether this is the launch date or just a timeline to reveal more details is something that needs to be seen.
While the tablet device could be a brand new model, there are chances it could be the recently launched Mi Pad 5 (unless it is an April fool's joke). It should be interesting to see Xiaomi taking on Realme, which already has Realme Pad in India and is apparently readying the Realme Pad Mini's launch in the Philippines.
To recall the Mi Pad 5 specifications, it has an 11-inch WQXGA display with a 16:10 aspect ratio, 120Hz refresh rate, 240Hz sampling rate, Dolby Vision, HDR10, TrueTone True colour display, TUV Rheinland low blue light hardware scheme certification. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 860 processor with Adreno 640 GPU.
The Mi Pad 5 will come with 6GB RAM and either 128GB or 256GB storage. It runs on Android 11 with MIUI 12.5 custom skin out of the box and packs an 8720mAh battery with 33W fast-charging support. It measures 254.69x166.25x6.85mm and weighs 511 grams.
Moving to optics, the Mi Pad 5 has a single 13MP snapper on the back that can record 4K videos. There is an 8MP snapper on the front for selfies and video chats. The tablet is equipped with Dolby Atmos, USB Type-C audio and quad speakers. Connectivity features include 5G, 4G LTE (optional) dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, and USB Type-C.
There's also Mi Pad 5 Pro that comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC that is paired with the Adreno 650 GPU. The Mi Pad 5 Pro Wi-Fi version comes with a 13MP primary camera and a 5MP depth sensor. While the 5G model features a 50MP primary sensor and a 5MP depth sensor. It has an 8MP selfie snapper on the front. It has an 8,600mAh battery with 67W fast charging support.
