Xiaomi MiWiFi mesh router with speeds up to 2.5Gbps launched

“The MiWiFi router’s setup is extremely simple as it automatically detects WAN and LAN cords”

After teasing a flagship router a couple of days back, Xiaomi has now announced a new MiWiFi mesh networking router. This is the company’s first mesh router on the market and is developed in collaboration with Qualcomm. The MiWiFi mesh suite comes with two routers to give users seamless coverage of a particular area. Currently, there are no prices for the new router as the company will be first beta testing the product before releasing it for consumers.

As for specifications, the MiWiFi mesh router is equipped with Qualcomm DAKOTA 4-core ARM processor, which has a single core frequency of 717MHz that will make online video playback smoother and also ensure low-latency. The mesh technology onboard the router allows for four-channel hybrid networking – two each for the 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks. Speeds with the setup can go up to 2,567Mbps and there’s an option for the good old powerline network as well in case there are too many obstructions for a clear wireless network.

Furthermore, the MiWiFi mesh router is easy to configure and each port automatically detects the WAN and LAN cables so when one port is used as a WAN, the others automatically switch to LAN. Also, the new product has 256MB memory and allows connections with up to 248 devices from a single setup.

The MiWiFi mesh router has been announced in China and will initially be tested as a beta product before being made available for the public. There is currently no official info of its arrival in India or on the global stage.
