Clark Savage, Jr., known as Doc Savage, is the original "super" hero. Many superheroes have been influenced by Doc Savage, the most notable being Superman (Doc's real name is Clark: Doc has an Arctic Fortress of Solitude: Doc is referred to as the Man of Bronze).
Several Doc Savage films were planned but canceled. In 1966, Mark Goodson and Bill Todman planned an adaptation of "The Thousand-Headed Man" starring Chuck Connors. Joe Morheim wrote a script in 1974 loosely based on "Death in Silver." In 1999, a remake of Doc Savage: The Man of Bronze (1975) was announced, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Doc Savage has been featured in publications from many comic book publishers, including both Marvel comics and DC comics. As of this writing, Doc Savage is appearing in comics published by Dynamite.
Reports have stated that the film hasn't started production yet because Black wants to keep the film in the '30s, but Sony wants it to be set in modern times. Shane refuses to do that
In Feb. 2020 it was announced that plans for a Doc Savage film were cancelled. In an interview with the site EN24, Neal H. Moritz, producer of The Boys (2019) and Preacher (2016), said Doc will now be a TV series. Also, Dwayne Johnson will no longer star and Shane Black isn't involved. Moritz also said he's not sure when the show will go into production or where it will air.
