Amazon updates Kindle apps for Android and iOS with Whispersync for Voice

Amazon has released updated versions of its Kindle apps for Android and iOS. This update brings the Whispersync for Voice feature to the mobile platform. This feature, which has been around for a while on the e-reader, allow users to switch effortlessly between reading books and listening to audio books without losing their place. Until now, users of the Kindle mobile apps were required to use the Amazon-owned Audible app to access this feature.

With this update, Amazon has pre-loaded the features of Audible into the Kindle app itself. That means you will now be able to switch from reading to listening with just a tap. Amazon says that this narration feature is available for around 45,000 Kindle e-books. Audible versions of Kindle e-books are available starting at $0.99. You can also use the Matchmaker service to scan which books in your library have an audio version.
