iMac, MacBook Pro to get a refresh this month

Apple could be releasing a new set of Mac products by the very end of this month. Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman reports that a new iMac with a 24-inch screen and updated MacBook Pro lineup could launch on October 30th or 31st. This comes as a surprise as multiple reports from last week suggested no further upgrades for Mac and iPad lineup this year.

Apple launched the overhauled iMac with a 24-inch screen in 2021 with its in-house Apple M1 chip. The product has been long overdue for an update as Apple has had M2 chip Macs in the market since last year. The new iMac could feature Apple M2 and M2 Pro chips but there’s no confirmation regarding this yet.

On the other hand, when it comes to the MacBook Pro lineup, the MacBook Pro 13-inch has had the M2 Chip while MacBook Pro 14-inch and 16-inch models have featured M2 Pro and M2 Max chips since the beginning of this year. An update on the MacBook Pros is not something that we expected considering the current models are not even a year old.

In fact, it further raises questions regarding the launch of the upcoming Apple M3 chip and whether it will make its debut with the new Pro laptops this month itself (something the report doesn’t touch upon). If the chip makes its debut this year, the Apple Vision Pro would have to launch with the outdated Apple M2 chipset early next year, which does not sound ideal considering its $3,499 price tag.

New iPads to launch as soon as March of 2024

While we were expecting the iPad 11th Generation and new iPad mini and iPad Air models earlier this month, we ended up getting the most affordable Apple Pencil from the Californian company.

These new iPads are, however, slated for launch in the month of March, next year, according to Gurman. The iPad Pro, which is expected to get a complete revamp for the next generation model with an M3 chip, could debut somewhat later in the same year.

The iMac 24-inch and MacBook Pros have been in short supply in the US which could be a good indication for a launch later this month. The launch could happen through a press release by the brand as there have been no invites for a physical event. An iMac Pro with a 32-inch display could make its debut next year or in 2025. This would also be the biggest iMac to date. MacBook Air models with Apple M3 chips are expected to be released next year too.
