Apple Watch users on the Apple Community and Reddit are complaining about an issue where the display brightness briefly flickers or pulses when Always On mode is enabled. The affected units appear to be flickering when the user raises the wrist to fully light up the display. The company appears to be aware of the issue, according to an internal service memo shared with Apple Authorised Service Providers.
Apple Watch flickering issue
- While the memo doesn’t explicitly mention which Apple Watch models are affected, the issue appears to be most prevalent on the Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2 models.

This suggests that Apple might eventually roll out a fix through a watchOS update in the future for both display flickering and complications turning Pink.
There are chances the watchOS 10.1, which is scheduled to roll out next week might include the fix to the flickering issue but can’t be said for certain until we have the official changelog. As a temporary fix, Apple suggests customers can turn off Always On mode in the Settings app under Display & Brightness > Always On.
