You’re going to have to wait longer for your favourite Marvel movies because Disney has delayed the release dates. A long lineup of movies including the Avatar sequels, Avengers, and Captain America will now release later than their scheduled dates. This is due to the ongoing Writers Guild Association (WGA) strike in the US which is halting screenplays and hence, production.

Avatar sequels
Avatar is set to get three more sequels but each of them have been delayed by almost a year, according to a report by Deadline. Avatar 3 was originally scheduled to release on December 30th, 2024 but it has been pushed back by a year to December 19th, 2025. This has now pushed the release dates for Avatar 4 to December 18th, 2026 to December 21st, 2029, and Avatar 5 to December 22nd, 2028 to December 19th, 2031.
Marvel movies
Several Marvel movies have also been updated with new release dates due to the schedule changes. This includes Blade which has been moved from September 6th, 2024 to February 14th, 2025, and Captain America: Brave New World that will now release on July 26th, 2024 instead of May 3rd. Thunderbolts will release within 2024 but on December 20th instead of September 6th. Fantastic 4 that was originally scheduled to release on February 14th is now releasing on May 2nd.
Interestingly, one movie’s release has been pushed back to an earlier. This is the highly anticipated Deadpool 3 movie which features everyone’s favourite, Wolverine played by Hugh Jackman. Fans will be happy to know that the release date for Deadpool 3 is now May 3rd, 2024 which was earlier November 8th. Moana fans will also see its live-action a week earlier on June 27th, 2025, from its previous July 2nd release date.
More delays..
Disney has also readjusted dates for upcoming Avengers movies. Avengers: The Kang Dynasty has been moved from May 2nd, 2025 to May 1st, 2026, and Avengers: Secret Wars now has a new release date of May 7th, 2027.
