Smartphone brands such as OnePlus, Huawei, Realme, and OPPO have extended the warranties on their products in several regions, including India. The vendors have taken the decision in light of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic that has forced lockdowns in many countries. All four companies have extended warranties on their smartphones, along with extended validities on services such as screen replacements, etc.
As a goodwill gesture, OnePlus is extending the warranty of its smartphones, earphones, and other accessories, ending between March 1st and May 30th, to May 31st. "To meet some of the most urgent needs of our customers, we've come up extending everyone's warranty to May 31 if yours expires between March 1st and May 30th all regions, effective immediately," OnePlus said in its forum. Additionally, the vendor extending its return and replacement period from 15 to 30 days and providing free two-way shipping for all returns, replacements, and repairs.

Huawei, meanwhile, has extended its products' warranty to June 30th if it's expiring between March 21st and June 21st. "As a gesture of good faith, we have extended the warranty on all smartphones, smartwatches, headsets, chargers, etc. to 30th June'2020, whose warranty expires between 21st March 2020 to 21st June 2020," said Huawei India's product marketing and communications head Veer Berry.
Similarly, Realme has announced extended warranties and replacement periods. In a statement, the company said, "Due to the ongoing situation prevailing in the country, Realme India has taken a significant step to support all its customers during this tough period. We have decided to extend the warranty on devices till May 31st, whose warranty was to expire between March 20th and April 30th, 2020. The replacement period of devices has also been extended by 30 days for those customers, who have purchased or will purchase Realme devices from March 15th till April 30th, 2020."
OPPO in its statement also said it is extending warranties across all smartphones and accessories whose warranty has expired during the lockdown period starting March 23rd. This extended warranty will be available till further notice from the company. The extended warranty applies to not only smartphones but also chargers, data cables, earphones, and even the internal battery. The validities of add-on services such as one-time screen replacement and complete damage protection have also been extended till further notice.
itel and Lava have also extended the warranty of their products in India. While the former is extending the warranty of its smartphones expiring between March 20th to May 31st by two months, Lava is doing the same for its devices that are expiring between March 15th to May 15th.
In related news, Huawei has rolled-out doorstep repair service for its smartwatches in India. The vendor is calling it VIP Customer services where users of Huawei Watch GT and Huawei Watch GT2 can get them replaced without any cost during the warranty period for any performance and function fault. The new policy also covers customers with out of warranty products. They can get spare parts, including strap, charging base, back cover, screen and mainboard, replaced – spare part charges for out-of-warranty repair are listed on Huawei India Website and app. Huawei will now provide pick and drop services for its select smartwatches in India.
