Gionee unveils S11S, S11, S11 lite, M7 Plus, M7, M7 Power, M7 mini, and F205 with FullView displays in China

Gionee has announced eight new smartphones, all with 18:9 displays for China and global markets at an event held on its home soil. The devices launched include the S11S, S11, S11 lite, M7 Plus, M7, M7 Power, M7 mini, and F205. The brand has already launched the M7 Power (first impressions) in India this month and the S11, S11 lite and F205 will also be launched globally. Notably, the S11 is the flagship device for the brand in the global market.

Gionee-S11-1

Speaking of the S-series handsets first, the flagship S11 has been equipped with a 5.99-inch 18:9 display with FHD+ resolution and 2.5D curved glass on top. The device is powered by a 2.5GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio P23 processor with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. In the imaging department, there is a 16MP + 8MP dual camera module with dual tone LED flash and a 16MP + 5MP dual snapper at the front. On the software side, there is Amigo OS 5.0 based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system. The smartphone is fuelled by a 3,410mAh battery.

Gionee-S11

Moving on to the S11S, it’s a more powerful variant of the S11 and ships with a 6.01-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with 18:9 aspect ratio and 2.5D curved glass. It gets a 2.3GHz MediaTek Helio P30 processor clocked at 2.3GHz, mated to 6GB RAM. The onboard storage is 64GB and can be expanded up to 256GB using microSD card. Just like the S11, the S11S too comes with a quad camera setup – a 16MP + 8MP snapper with dual tone LED flash on the rear and 20MP + 8MP sensors on the front. Other features of the device include Amigo OS 5.0 based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat, a 3,600mAh battery and a fingerprint scanner.

The S11 Lite is the affordable model in the S series and flaunts a 5.7-inch, 18:9 display with HD+ resolution. This one comes with Snapdragon 430 SoC mated to 4GB RAM and 32GB storage. Running the same Amigo 5.0 OS, it comes with 13MP + 2MP rear camera module and a 16MP selfie camera. There is a 3,030mAh battery powering the smartphone. 

Gionee-M7-Plus

Moving on to the M-series, the M7 Plus is the top-of-the line model with a 6.43-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with 18:9 aspect ratio. The phone is powered by a Snapdragon 660 SoC mated to 6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage expandable up to 128GB. For cameras, it gets a 16MP + 8MP primary camera module and 8MP front camera. For power, there is a massive 5,000mAH battery under the rear panel.  The M7 Power shares the same battery, while its other core specs include a 6-inch 18:9 HD+ display, 1.4GHz octa-core Snapdragon 435 SoC, 4GB RAM, 13MP rear snapper with PDAF and an 8MP front shooter.

Coming to the Gionee M7, the phone sports a 6.01-inch full HD+ FullView AMOLED 2.5D curved glass display. There is a 16-megapixel + 8-megapixel primary shooter at the rear and an 8-megapixel front camera. The device is powered by a 2.3GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio P30 16nm processor, mated to 6GB of RAM. Software-wise, it boots Amigo OS 5.0 based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat. The device is fuelled by a 4,000mAh battery, which supports fast charging. Up next is the Gionee M7 Mini, powered by Snapdragon 425 SoC with 3GB RAM hidden beneath a 5.5-inch HD+ FullView display. This phone runs the same Amigo OS 5.0 and offers 8MP cameras on rear and front panels. There is a 4.000mAH battery powering the handset.

Gionee-M7-Mini

The last of the lot is the Gionee F205, which is shipped with 5.45-inch HD+ display and utilises a MediaTek MT6739 64-bit processor with 2GB RAM. There is 16GB storage onboard the device, which can be further expanded up to 128GB. In the imaging department, it gets 8MP rear camera with LED flash and 5MP front facing snapper. It boots the Android 7.1 Nougat based Amigo 5.0 OS out of the box and is powered by a 2,670mAh battery.

The brand has confirmed that all these smartphones will go on sale starting December 2017 except for the M7 Plus, which will arrive in January 2018. The Gionee S11S has been priced at RMB 3,299 (~Rs 32,200), the S11 at RMB 1,799 (~Rs 17,500), the S11 Lite at RMB 1,299 (~Rs 12,700), the M7 Plus at RMB 4,399 (~Rs 43,000), the M7 Mini at RMB 1,399 (~Rs 13,500) and the F205 at RMB 999 (~Rs 9,700). The Gionee M7 has been priced at RMB 2,799 (~Rs 27,500), whereas, the M7 Power has already gone up for sale in India for Rs 16,999.
