Honda Activa Electric scooter: expected price (on-road), range, colours, and specifications

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India one of India’s most prominent two-wheeler manufacturers will soon announce its plans for entering the booming electric two-wheeler market in India. The Japanese automaker, albeit late to the party, is keen on introducing an electric two-wheeler in the commuter segment. So far, speculations indicate that a Honda electric scooter based on the Honda Activa platform could be in the works. The two-wheeler maker is likely to debut its first electric offering in March 2024 and also aims to diversify and establish its swappable battery technology in India.

Honda Activa Electric’s expected price in India

Honda has not yet commented on the pricing of its upcoming Honda Activa Electric scooter. However, given its commuter segment positioning the Honda Activa Electric could be priced aggressively and at par with Ola S1 Air and Ola S1, Ather 450 Plus, TVS iQube, and others. As per some websites, the Activa Electric price in India could be around Rs 1.10 lakh.  Honda could also roll out a comprehensive warranty on the electric scooter to boost consumer confidence.

Honda Activa Electric expected features

  • The Honda Activa Electric could become the very first electric two-wheeler from Honda. Thus the Honda Activa Electric could come loaded with a suite of features such as LED lighting setup at the front and the back, alloy wheels, disc brakes at the front, a combi-braking system, a mobile phone charging socket, a digital instrument cluster with full MID, etc.
  • Practical features such as a flat floor, hooks for nets, lockable storage in the front apron, maximised under-seat storage, load-carrying rear grab handle, etc could also be made standard across the range to make the scooter more usable to a wider audience. Honda’s Activa Electric is likely to derive styling cues from its ICE-powered scooter siblings, the Honda Activa 6G and Honda Activa 125. Honda could also add some bling in the form of chrome accents, graphics and a large colour palate.
  • Given the competition, higher-end variants could offer some form of connected vehicle features such as Bluetooth telephony, navigation, notification display, ride data analytics, etc. A colour TFT display could also be on offer on higher variants as has become the norm with most startup brands such as Ather Energy and Ola Electric.

Honda Activa Electric expected specifications

Reports from Autocar India indicate that the Honda Activa Electric will indeed be based on the outgoing Petrol powered Honda Activa chassis. The Japanese are likely to engineer it to suit the electric powertrain and also add additional bracing to take the additional weight of the batteries. Honda has its own battery-swapping technology deployed which is called Honda Mobile Power Pack removable battery. This can be found on Honda’s PCX Electric electric scooter sold abroad. However, the first electric product could be christened the Honda Activa Electric.
