“Huawei P40 series would be launched next year at the end of March, the company has confirmed”
The upcoming Huawei P40 Pro flagship smartphone will once again push the boundaries of optical zoom. The new Huawei smartphone will apparently feature 10x optical zoom thanks to an improved periscope camera. The Huawei P30 Pro was one of the first devices to use a periscope style camera to provide up to 5x optical zoom. The company now wants to double that and further improve zoom on smartphones. The new information comes via a research note posted by the well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. He also stated that most 2020 smartphones will focus on offering better quality zoom.
The Huawei P40 series will be launched in March next year. Huawei has already confirmed the launch details and also revealed that the event would take place in Paris. The P40 Pro would feature a telephoto sensor with periscope technology at the back, which would enable up to 10x optical zoom. This means that the phone should also be able to provide higher hybrid and digital zoom range. The Huawei P30 Pro offered 10x hybrid zoom and 50x digital zoom. With the new P40 Pro, users can expect a lot more.
Earlier this week, we also shared some exclusive renders of the upcoming flagships from Huawei. We partnered with @OnLeaks to provide a look at both the Huawei P40 as well as the P40 Pro. The phones will feature a new camera placement at the back. Instead of a single vertical setup of cameras, as seen in the P30 series, the new P40 series will get a rectangular camera module. This appears to be a 2020 trend, as a lot of devices would be using a similar setup, including the Samsung Galaxy S11 series.
Coming to the other Huawei P40 series specifications, the standard variant will feature a flat display, whereas the Pro variant will come with a display with curved edges. The phones are expected to be powered by the Kirin 990 chipset. The Huawei P40 Pro camera setup will most likely include the 64MP Sony IMX686 primary sensor, a 20MP ultra-angle-wide lens, a 12MP periscope telephoto lens, a macro lens, and a Time of Flight sensor.
