Jio has launched a new Rs 259 ‘calendar month prepaid’ pack that offers a validity of an entire month, regardless of how many days the month has. For example, if the subscriber recharges their phone number with the Rs 259 Jio recharge on March 5th, then the next recurring recharge dates would be April 5th, May 5th, June 5th, and so on. It doesn’t matter how many days the particular month has. This is in contrast to the 28-day validity we usually get with the so-called monthly prepaid packs. In fact, 91mobiles had called for such a recharge pack last year since users will need to spend less on telecom subscriptions for the same validity and benefits.
The Jio Rs 259 plan comes a few days after Jio introduced its Rs 279 and Rs 555 plans that offer a Disney+ Hotstar subscription. Let’s take a look at the benefits the Jio Rs 259 puts on the table.

The Rs 259 Jio recharge is a monthly calendar plan where the user gets the validity of an entire month, as we mentioned above. The pack offers 1.5GB of daily data, so users will get 42GB to 46.5GB of 4G data depending on the month. After FUP, the speed drops to 64kbps. Further, the user gets unlimited voice calls on local and STD numbers across all networks, along with 100 SMSes per day. Additionally, the Rs 259 Jio plan provides a complimentary subscription to Jio apps like Jio TV, JioCinema, JioSecurity, and JioCloud.
Jio Rs 259 vs Rs 279 recharge plans compared
The closely priced Rs 279 Disney+ Hotstar pack may be mistaken for in-house competition for the new Rs 259 Jio recharge plan. However, the former is only an add-on recharge, so users won’t get any unlimited calling and free SMS privileges. And as the name suggests, the Rs 279 pack offers free Disney+ Hotstar access to subscribers, though there will be ads. The data is also limited to 15GB, that too only until the existing primary plan’s validity.
