Merry Christmas OTT release: will arrive on Netflix 8 weeks after December 15th theatrical debut

Merry Christmas, the movie starring Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi, is scheduled to release later this year on December 15th. It was earlier supposed to release in December 2022 but was postponed by a year. This will be a theatrical release in India but the movie is also reportedly coming to an OTT platform a few weeks later. There’s been a lot of buzz around the movie but the filmmakers have been tight-lipped on what to expect from the thriller. 

Merry Christmas OTT release details

According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, Merry Christmas will stream on Netflix. The company has paid Rs 60 crore to bag the streaming rights of Merry Christmas, the report added. The movie is also said to start streaming on Netflix eight weeks after its theatrical release which is on December 15th. So we can expect it to arrive on Netflix sometime around the second or third week of February 2024.

  • Merry Christmas stars Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi in lead roles with cameo appearances by Radhika Apte and Ashwini Kalsekar.
  • The film has been shot in two languages — Hindi and Tamil.
  • The cast is different for the two languages with Sanjay Kapoor, Vinay Pathak, Pratima Kannan, and Tinnu Anand starring in the Hindi version.
  • The Tamil version of Merry Christmas has Radhika Sarathkumar, Shanmugaraja, Kevin Jay Babu, and Rajesh Williams. 

Merry Christmas plot

There hasn’t been much revealed about Merry Christmas, and the trailer isn’t even out yet. So far only a few posters of the movie have been released. The movie has been directed by Sriram Raghavan who is known for the hit dark comedy ‘Andhadhun’ so there are some high expectations from Merry Christmas. This one too is going to be a thriller with IMDB describing the plot as, “On Christmas Eve, an uneventful day turns the world of two people upside down.”
