Guns & Gulaabs is an upcoming Hindi comedy thriller on Netflix, and its release date has been announced. The series has been inspired by ‘Misfits of the World’, and it’s set in the 90s. Its main themes include romance and crime in the 90s invoking a sense of nostalgia. The series stars Rajkummar Rao, and it has been produced by D2R Films, known for The Family Man and Farzi web series and the horror comedy film Stree.

Guns & Gulaabs will release in Hindi but there will be dubbed versions of the show in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.

In addition to Rajkummar Rao, Guns & Gulaabs also features Dulquer Salmaan, Adarsh Gourav, Gulshan Devaiah and TJ Bhanu in lead roles. The series also includes Pooja Gor, Satish Kaushik, Vipin Sharma, Shreya Dhanwanthary, Manuj Sharma and Sanchay Goswami.
Guns & Gulaabs is a collaboration between directors Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K who are known for popular OTT shows Stree, The Family Man, and Farzi. The series was first announced in January last year. But the shoot took almost 100 days to wrap up because of the Covid-19 third wave. The series finally completed the shoot in April 2022.
Guns & Gulaabs plot
As mentioned above, Guns & Gulaabs has a nostalgic 90s theme, and it portrays the story of love mixed with crime but in a humorous way. Netflix describes the plot as, “In the cartel-run town of Gulaabgunj, an unprecedented opium deal pulls a big-city cop and a lovesick mechanic into its chaotic clutches.”
There’s a trailer for Guns & Gulaabs that shows quite a bit about the series. You get the classic Bollywood 90s feel with the violence and crime, and the hopeless romantic trope as well.
There’s a lot that’s happening in the series with Dulquer Salmaan portraying a police officer, Adarsh Gourav as a hopeless romantic and Rajkumar Rao committing a murder. The trailer does show that it’s going to be a fun series with a lot happening between the characters.
