Microsoft Surface Laptop 4 launched with Intel and AMD CPUs: price, specifications

Microsoft has officially unveiled its newest laptop, called the Microsoft Surface Laptop 4. It comes in both Intel and AMD variants. The Intel SKUs are all based on the 11th-generation Tiger Lake architecture, whereas the AMD option uses last year’s Renoir. Microsoft also offers the Surface Laptop 4 in two screen sizes – 13.5-inch and 15-inch. Both SKUs are identical, for the most part, but the 15-inch version gets a better pick of CPUs compared to its 13.5-inch sibling.

Microsoft Surface Laptop 4 price in India

The entry-level Surface Laptop 4 13.5 inch starts at USD 999.99 (approx Rs 75,000) for the AMD Ryzen 5 4680U, 8GB RAM and 256GB storage version. The Intel version with a Core i5-1135G7, 8GB RAM, and 512GB storage will set you back by USD 1,299.99 (approx Rs 97,000). It will be available in four colour options, namely Ice Blue, Platinum Alcantara, Sandstone, and Matte Black. 

Moving on to the larger Microsoft Surface Laptop 15 inch the AMD Ryzen 7 4980U model with 8GB RAM and 256GB  costs USD 1,299.99 (approx Rs 97,000). The Intel Core i7 1185G7 variant with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage USD 1,799.99 (approx Rs 1,35,000). There are only two colours, Platinum and Matte Black. Both laptops will initially be available only in the US, Canada, and Japan. Worldwide availability is expected to follow suit soon. 

Microsoft Surface Laptop 4 specifications

Apart from their screen sizes and range of CPU options, both Microsoft Surface Laptop 4 variants have nearly identical specifications. For starters, the Microsoft Surface Laptop 4 13.5 inches can be configured with either an AMD Ryzen 5 4680U, Intel Core i5-1135G7, and a Core i7-1185G7. The processor can be paired with up to 32GB of RAM and 1TB of solid-state storage via an NVMe SSD. Its 13.5-inch screen has a resolution of 2,256 x 1,504 (3:2 aspect ratio) and is touch-enabled with supports 10-point multitouch. 

Moving on to the Microsoft Surface Laptop 4 15-inches, we get a larger screen with a resolution of 2,496 x 1,664. It is also touch-enabled and supports 10-point multitouch. CPU options are limited to the AMD Ryzen 7 4980U and Intel Core i7-1185G7. The maximum storage and RAM are the same as that of the 13.5-inch variant. Both notebooks are powered by a 47Wh battery and come with one Surface Connect port, one USB Type-A, and one USB Type-C port. Wi-Fi 6 support is included, too.
