Moto Edge 60 Pro receives Android 17 beta update in India: brings a host of UI changes
Lately, Motorola has been on a roll by becoming one of the fastest Android OEMs to release the Android 17 beta update, right after Google and Samsung. Currently being pushed out to registered users, the Moto Edge 60 Pro is the latest device in its portfolio to receive the beta firmware. Previously, the company had pushed out the beta update to its flagship, Motorola Signature, Moto Edge 70, Moto Edge 70 Fusion, Moto G57 Power, and others.

Featuring the firmware version A171VVH.16, the Android 17 beta update is currently rolling out to the Moto Edge 60 Pro in India and Brazil, per multiple X and Reddit posts. Interestingly, the changelog just notes the July 2026 security patch; however, the update weighs a hefty 4.91GB.

Revamped status bar icons: The status bar icons have been redesigned to look more like Pixel UI, meaning the battery icon is now horizontal with the option to place the percentage within it, while the WiFi and cellular network icons also appear different.
Cleaner settings app: The Settings app features colours for each menu, while the menu/feature status under each setting has been removed.
New Live Updates style: On Android 16, newly released Motorola smartphones featured a One UI-like left-aligned pill on the status bar to display key updates, such as music, directions for the map, sound recording, etc. Now the same pill has been moved to the centre.
New volume panel design: In line with Material 3 Expressive, the volume panel layout has been updated to sport a more rectangular look.
QiraAI: Recently debuted on the Moto Edge 70 Max, Moto AI has been rebranded to QiraAI, where all the AI features will reside.
All app icons support tinted colours: Motorola has gone ahead and given tinted icons to all the apps available on the phone. This results in a more cohesive and clean look, something which ColorOS also delivered with its Android update.
Has Motorola finally caught up with the competition on software updates?
Since no brand other than Google, Samsung, and Xiaomi has released Android 17 yet, Motorola joining them is a strong sign that the company is finally taking software updates seriously. Previously, slow updates were a major complaint among Motorola users, and it looks like that is finally changing.
