Nothing Ear specifications, features

Ear

Audio: The Nothing Ear ships with a custom 11mm driver and a ceramic diaphragm for overall richness and crisper highs. Nothing says that it has improved the dual chamber design from that of Ear (2) with two additional vents to improve airflow and deliver clearer sound. The earbuds support LHDC 5.0 and LDAC codec for high-resolution streaming over Bluetooth and Hi-Res Audio certification.

ANC: The Nothing Ear has ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) for up to 45dB and intelligent noise cancelling. This new Smart ANC algorithm is claimed to check for noise leakage between the earbuds and the ear canal and adds more noise cancellation accordingly.

The earbuds also account for background distractions with Adaptive ANC, which applies automatically up to 3 noise cancellation levels (high, medium, and low). There is up to 5000Hz bandwidth claimed to detect and reduce more challenging sounds.

Ear

Battery: Nothing says the earbuds last 25 percent longer than Ear (2). They are claimed to offer up to 40.5 hours on a full charge with the charging case. Individually, the earbuds offer 8.5 hours of playback. There is also wireless charging at 2.5W and fast charging. A quick ten minutes of fast charging is claimed to offer ten hours of listening time with the case.

For Calls: The Nothing Ear features Nothing’s advanced Clear Voice Technology and a new talk mic design. There is a new airway on the stem so the wind has a clearer pathway, which reduces interference by 60 percent compared to the Ear (2).

Others: There is support for dual device connectivity and real-time switching, Low Lag Mode to reduce audio lag compared to normal use, and Pinch controls. There is an IP54 rating for the earbuds and an IP55 rating for the case. We get in-ear detection, Google Fast Pair, and Microsoft Swift Pair.

Nothing Ear (a) features

Ear (a)

Nothing Ear (a) features an almost identical design as the Nothing Ear but gets a slim new frame, which is more compact and has soft edges. There is also ANC support for up to 45dB and the new Smart ANC algorithm. The ANC detects distractions in the environment and automatically applies high, medium, or low noise cancellation levels to your surrounding noise.

The Nothing Ear (a)’s new driver is claimed to deliver 2.5x more transient power. There is support for Hi-Res Audio certification and the ability to stream high-resolution audio over Bluetooth connections. We get Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity. The earbuds are compatible with LDAC codec for high-resolution streaming over Bluetooth.

The Nothing Ear (a)’s carry case offers a 500mAh battery while the earbuds have a 46mAh unit. The earbuds are claimed to offer up to 42.5 hours of music playback after a full charge. While there is no wireless charging, we do get quick charge support. A 10-minute charge is claimed to deliver up to 10 hours of playback (with case and ANC disabled.). The Ear (a) are IP54 rated for buds and IPX2 rated for the case.
