Nothing seems to be working on its very first smartphone, based on a cryptic tweet by CEO Carl Pei. The brand launched its first product, Nothing Ear (1) true wireless earbuds (review), in December 2020. Carl Pei announced that the brand has partnered with Qualcomm and hinted to excited fans that a Nothing smartphone could be in the works. Since then, there has not been a word about the Nothing smartphone powered by Qualcomm. This week, Carl Pei teased “Back on Android” on his Twitter handle, followed by “Android 12 is nice” hinting towards a Nothing smartphone that might be announced soon.

Previously, Manu Sharma, Nothing India’s Vice President and General Manager, shared the company’s plans regarding future Nothing gears. He also disclosed that the startup would release five new products. Furthermore, we exclusively reported Nothing smartphone is in the works, and it will launch in early 2022, and Nothing Power (1) power bank will launch before the Nothing phone.
If the company launches a Nothing smartphone soon, it will be interesting to see whether it will be a flagship or a premium mid-ranger. The pricing will also be important considering the competition in the market today. The Nothing Ear (1) was marketed as a premium TWS offering at a pocket-friendly price. The company could do the same with its upcoming smartphone and launch a flagship killer smartphone at a considerable price.
