OnePlus is offering a free battery replacement for the OnePlus 3, OnePlus 3T, OnePlus 5, OnePlus 5T, OnePlus 6, and OnePlus 6T phones in India, according to a Reddit post. While there has been no official word from the company on this, the Reddit user seemingly got their OnePlus 5T battery replaced free of cost, though they had to pay Rs 473 for labour charge. While the post suggests that the free battery replacement program is happening in India, it could be taking place in other regions as well. The reason behind this is apparently due to a large number of spare batteries for these models in stock and the company is trying to clear the same.

How to claim free battery replacement for OnePlus 3, OnePlus 5, and OnePlus 6 phones

According to the post, you can claim the free battery replacement service when you walk into any official OnePlus store in India. It does not apply for courier pickup, which costs extra. As per the Reddit user, OnePlus is not expecting to move these batteries as they are a few years old, which is why it hopes to clear the stock by offering free battery replacement.

While not effectively free, you will still end up paying far less for a battery replacement than was the case previously. The OnePlus 3 series is around five years old now while the OnePlus 5 series and the OnePlus 6 series are four and three years old, respectively. If you own any of these devices and have never replaced the battery, this might be the best time to do so.
