Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold might replace Pixel Fold 2
- According to a report by Android Authority, Google has likely adjusted the naming scheme for this year’s Pixel smartphones.
- The report states that the Google Pixel 9 is codenamed “tokay,” while the Pixel 9 Pro is codenamed “caiman”.
- On the other hand, the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL is codenamed “komodo,” and the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold is codenamed “comet”.
- Additionally, these codenames have likely been confirmed by some of the software built for the tech giant’s devices to be launched this year.
- Furthermore, what’s worth mentioning is that the company had referred to the phone codename “comet” as the “Pixel Fold 2” in the recent past.
- However, the report also mentioned that the “Pixel 9 Pro Fold” name isn’t final, and the company might change it later.

On the other hand, a recent report suggested that the upcoming Pixel Fold will likely feature an 8.02-inch folding screen and a 6.29-inch cover display, as compared to the 7.6-inch folding display and a 5.8-inch outer display in the Pixel Fold.
Additionally, it is also tipped to be launched with a yet-to-be-announced Tensor G4 chipset instead of the Tensor G3, indicating that it will come alongside the Pixel 9 series phones, which increases the probability of the phone being called the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
It is said that the Pixel 9 devices, including the upcoming Fold, will get a cellular modem with satellite connectivity. As per the report, the modem will be a part of the upcoming Tensor G4 chipset, and it will be offered by Samsung.
