- Bethesda has shared a new release date video for Starfield.
- Starfield will now be releasing in September, instead of first half of this year.
- Bethesda has also announced Starfield Direct that will take place in June.
Bethesda has delayed the much-anticipated Starfield to September, which was previously scheduled to release in the first half of this year. The publisher has also announced a dedicated Starfield showcase later this year, which will offer more details about the game. Starfield has gathered a lot of hype over the years by promising some amazing space exploration across a thousand planets and 100 solar systems. That said, No Man’s Sky has a pretty similar premise, but it had a rough launch followed by some mediocre reviews.
Bethesda has shared a new trailer for Starfield that reveals its September 6 release date. The publisher has also revealed that Starfield Direct will take place on June 11, right after the Xbox Game Showcase on the same day. This showcase will now take place on the weekend between this year’s Summer Game Fest and E3. In the announcement video, Bethesda game director and executive producer Todd Howard said, “From myself and everybody here at Bethesda, we are so excited to finally tell you when Starfield is coming out this year. We have poured ourselves into this game and even I’m surprised how much we can pour, it is large.” Howard added, “This June we’re going to bring you into the studio, and give you a deep dive into the game at our Starfield Direct. There’s so much that we still have to show you.”
The first Starfield gameplay was presented last June during the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase. The game was originally supposed to launch on November 11, 2022, but it got delayed to the first half of 2023 back in May. Hopefully, Starfield will not be delayed again and release on September 6, 2023. The game was most likely delayed to improve performance and gameplay experience on all platforms.
