Ola Parcel delivery service details

  • On X (formerly Twitter), Ola CEO Bhavish Aggarwal mentioned that the Parcel service has started in Bengaluru.
  • Ola Parcel’s pricing is set at Rs 25 for a 5-kilometre distance, Rs 50 for 10 kilometres, Rs 75 for 15 kilometres, and Rs 100 for 20 kilometres.
  • The Ola Parcel service is free for users in Bengaluru till October 15th. However, the platform is Re 1 as a convenience charge.
  • After this, the service will begin to bill users according to the pricing mentioned above.
  • The company has also specified that parcels eligible for delivery should weigh 15 kilograms or less and be able to fit inside a backpack.
  • Ola has advised users to refrain from sending valuable, delicate items, as well as items that are illegal or restricted, including alcohol.

How to use the Ola Parcel service

To book an Ola Parcel, simply follow these steps:

  • Open the Ola app and choose the Ola Parcel option.
  • Enter the destination where you want the item to be delivered.
  • After your driver is confirmed, give them a call to inform them that they’ll be picking up a package.
  • When the driver arrives, share your Start Code with them and place your item in their vehicle.
  • Once the driver reaches the delivery destination, you will receive a call.

For those unaware, this concept is similar to services like Swiggy Genie, Uber Connect, and Dunzo, where a delivery partner collects an item from one location and transports it to another for a nominal charge.

The company has mentioned that it will utilise its own fleet of Ola Electric two-wheelers for its parcel delivery services. Ola is in the process of establishing a new Gigafactory in Tamil Nadu, which will boost its capacity for producing two-wheeler electric vehicles (EVs) in the country.

Meanwhile, in August, Ola Electric introduced four new electric scooters to the Indian market. Among them, three are part of the brand-new Ola S1X series, and they have also unveiled a second-generation Ola S1 Pro with increased power and range.
