Earlier this month, 91mobiles exclusively reported that Vivo is planning to launch its online-only Z series phones in India to counter Xiaomi. Soon after, the company officially started teasing the launch of the Z series phones in the country through its social channels. While the brand is yet to confirm the name of the upcoming handset, 91mobiles has exclusively obtained a couple of photos of the first Z series handset. While our source hasn't confirmed the name of the device, it is likely to be the Vivo Z5X that was launched in China recently.
According to our earlier report, the Vivo Z series phones will be sold exclusively through the online sales channels. The handsets will be priced under Rs 20,000. Our sources also suggested that the Z series models will be launched to challenge Xiaomi in the budget segment. The first Z series phone will be available to buy in the country by June-end or early-July, add our sources. Furthermore, we've learned that the handset will be available in two RAM configurations — 4GB and 6GB.
Talking about the specs of the Vivo Z5X, the phone arrived as the brand's first phone to flaunt a punch-hole display. The handset offers a 6.53-inch full-HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. The device is powered by a 10nm fabrication process-based Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor. The smartphone comes in four RAM and storage models including 4GB RAM + 64GB, 6GB RAM + 64GB, 6GB RAM + 128GB, and 8GB RAM + 128GB. Software-wise, the phone boots Funtouch OS 9 based on Android 9 Pie, and has the brand's JoviAI assistant.
In the imaging department, the Vivo Z5X offers a triple camera setup at the rear comprising of 16MP, 8MP, and 2MP sensors. For selfies, there's a 16MP single shooter. The handset is equipped with camera features such as AI beauty, AR shoot etc. In terms of connectivity, you get 4G LTE, dual-SIM slots, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB OTG, and A-GPS. A 5,000mAh battery with Dual-Engine 18W fast charging and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor complete the list of the specs.
