WhatsApp group calls on iOS

  • The new feature is available with the 23.21.72 update for iOS on the App Store. This feature isn’t mentioned in the update changelog but it was spotted by WABetaInfo. You can go to the App Store to check if the update is available or not.
  • WhatsApp group calls currently allow a maximum of 32 participants. But if you’re initiating a group call, you can only add 15 participants at once. After that, you’d have to manually add people you want to join the group call.
  • With the latest WhatsApp update on iOS, you will now be able to add 31 people at once. You can do this by going to the calls tab, and starting a new group call. Here, add up to 31 people from your contact list to the group call. As mentioned above, this feature isn’t mentioned in the changelog so it might go unnoticed by users.
  • It might also take some time for this feature to reach everyone. You can check by following the steps mentioned above.

WhatsApp also rolled out the ability to find and follow channels on the app. You can do this by going to the Updates tab available on the bottom bar of the app. Scroll down, and you’ll find a section for channels. Here, tap on the + button to find channels that you can follow. WhatsApp also shows a list of recommended channels that you might be interested in. You can also create a WhatsApp by following the same steps.
