WhatsApp email verification
- WhatsApp for iOS 23.24.70 update comes with the email verification feature. It isn’t visible in the changelog but the feature is available as confirmed by WABetaInfo.
- You can check if you’ve received the feature by going to Settings > Account > Email Address. Once you enter your email address you’ll have to verify it.
- So in case you’re unable to verify your WhatsApp with the six-digit SMS code, you can opt for email address verification.
- It’s important to note that WhatsApp is not replacing phone numbers with email addresses, as this feature is simply providing users with an extra access method.
- Email address verification only acts as an alternative to phone numbers, and not a replacement. So you would still need a phone number to create a new WhatsApp account.
This feature should be available to iPhone users who have updated WhatsApp to the latest version from the App Store. But if you haven’t received it yet, it should be available soon. It was earlier available only to beta testers but WhatsApp has now rolled it out for everyone else.
