After leaks and rumours, Xiaomi has finally revealed the launch date of its flagship foldable, the MIX Fold 3. The teaser image shared by the brand says, “Defining a new standard for the foldable display”, hinting at some major upgrades for the upcoming foldable. The poster also confirms Xiaomi’s continued partnership with Leica for the cameras on the MIX Fold 3.
Xiaomi MIX Fold 3 launch date
The Xiaomi MIX Fold 3 is set to launch on August 14th 2023 at 19:00 GMST+8 which would be 4.30 pm IST for viewers in India. But there are very less chances for the foldable to make it to India since none of the predecessors were launched here.
Xiaomi MIX Fold 3 design
In a Weibo post, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun detailed the MIX Fold 3’s development process, which required Xiaomi engineers to build the phone from the ground up, including the structure and the folding screen. The top executive has shared high-quality renders of the foldable, which shows off the complete design. The Xiaomi MIX Fold 3 has a slim profile compared to most foldables.
- Firstly, the foldable will be available in Black and Gold colour options.
- The black colour version appears to have a leather finish on the back panel, which makes it look premium.
- The top side of the phone has microphones and a speaker grille. While the bottom has a USB Type-C slot and another speaker vent.
- The top portion of the back panel houses a large rectangular camera island. This houses four camera sensors, including a telephoto lens and an LED flash. We can see Leica branding as well.
- The volume rocker and power button are on the right edge. The frame of the phone looks to be made of aluminium.
- The inner and outer folding screens have a punch-hole cutout for the selfie shooter.
The company has also shared an official teaser video which highlights the improved design. The teaser video hints at the new hinge mechanism, which should be durable and stronger than before. The teaser video shows the four Leica-tuned cameras on the back and an LED flash. As said, the optics are powered by the Leica branding and we can spot a periscope lens as well. The Xiaomi MIX Fold 3 is rumoured to be exclusive to China market only and not expand to other markets.

- The MIX Fold 3 is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor.
- The chipset could be paired with up to 16GB LPDDR5x RAM and 512GB / 1TB UFS 4.0 storage.
- The foldable phone is also expected to pack a 4,800mAh battery with 67W wired charging, and 50W wireless charging support.
