This movie was originally going to be made in 2011 with Chris Evans and Andrew Garfield starring, and Doug Liman directing. However, Skydance Productions dropped out after the movie surpassed its $100 million budget.
For the lead female role, Olivia Wilde, Rosario Dawson, Megan Fox, Eva Mendes, Rachel McAdams, Abbie Cornish and Zoe Saldana were considered.
Tom Cruise will produce this movie and possibly star as well. If he does, this will be his third collaboration with Doug Liman after Edge of Tomorrow (2014) and American Made (2017).
