Android 14 features

Android 14 has a lot of new features. There are several small and big improvements on the surface and OS level that enhance the overall Android experience. 

Monochrome theme

You can set this black-and-white theme across the OS and give your phone a whole minimal look.

AI wallpapers

Through pre-set suggestions (as prompts), you can have AI-generated wallpapers on your Android phone.

Lockscreen customization

You can now access app shortcuts on the lockscreen, and change different aspects of this screen including its fonts, colours, formats, and widgets.

Ultra HDR 

On select smartphones with HDR-supported displays, Android 14 will present on-device photos and videos in HDR quality.

Android Phone as a Webcam

You just have to connect your phone to the PC/laptop using a USB cable and use your Android 14-running phone’s camera as a webcam for the bigger machine. 

There are many more features, most of which have been part of previous beta updates. However, now the final version is out. Here’s how you get it:

How to download Android 14 on your phone

  • Step 1: On eligible devices, you open the Settings app.
  • Step 2: Go to the bottom and tap System.
  • Step 3 Next tap on System update.
  • Step 4: Either you will see the update waiting for you there. Else, tap on Check for update.
  • Step 5: When you see the Android 14 update, download and install it.

Your device may restart during this process. Once it finally boots, you will have Android 14 on your device.
