ASUS ROG Zephyrus, 2024 Strix SCAR laptops and ROG NUC gaming PC announced at CES 2024

New ASUS ROG Zephyrus laptops

  • The ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 and Zephyrus G16 are the new 2024 laptop lineup from the brand. Both the laptops have received a complete redesign as they have become thinner and lighter than before.
  • There is an all-new splash lighting array across the lid. ASUS says that gamers can reflect their unique style with customizable lighting patterns. These are also the first ROG laptops to feature Nebula Display with an OLED panel.
  • ROG collaborated with NVIDIA and Samsung Display to refine the refresh rate and sync the processes of this panel. The display is claimed to increase the pixel emission rate to 960Hz, far higher than a standard OLED panel.

  • The 2024 Zephyrus G14 is powered by the AMD Ryzen 8000 Series processor and the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPU.
  • On the other hand, the ROG Zephyrus G16 feature an Intel Core Ultra 9 processor 185H and up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop GPU. The Zephyrus G14 sports a 14-inch ROG Nebula Display 3K OLED display with G-SYNC.
  • While the G16 has a 16-inch ROG Nebula Display 2.5K OLED panel with 2560 × 1600 resolution, 240Hz and G-SYNC.

ASUS ROG Strix SCAR

ASUS has also introduced the first 18-inch ROG Nebula HDR display, courtesy of 2024 Strix SCAR 16 and SCAR 18. Both models feature upgraded Mini LED panels boasting over 2000 discrete dimming zones and 1,100 nits of peak brightness. The Nebula HDR Engine minimises blooming and haloing even in challenging scenes. This is claimed to give the Strix SCAR 16 and SCAR 18 vivid HDR performance.

The HDR displays come with a 2.5K 240Hz refresh rate panel with a less than 3ms grey-to-grey response time. The panels have an extra tall 16:10 aspect ratio and 100 percent coverage of the DCI-P3 colour space. The new Strix Scar models are powered by the Intel Core i9 processor 14900HX paired with up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop GPU. The chipset is paired with up to 32GB DDR5 RAM and 2TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD storage. As the names suggest, these feature 16-inch and 18-inch display sizes.

ROG NUC gaming PC

ASUS says that it has designed the ROG NUC in a way to make it easy to pop in the desired RAM and storage devices inside and out. The chassis opens with an easy mechanism, and the M.2 slots use the M.2 Q-Latch system so that you can easily secure or remove drives without the need for a screwdriver.

There is an RGB LED illuminated ROG logo that gives you an easy way to customise the look of the ROG NUC, and it’s Aura Sync-ready. This allows you to synchronise the lighting with the rest of your compatible gear.

The ASUS ROG NUC is powered by up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 CPU and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPU. There are three PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots and it supports up to 64GB DDR5-5600 RAM in its two SO-DIMM slots. Ports on board include an HDMI 2.1a port, two DisplayPort 1.4 ports, and a Thunderbolt 4 US Type-C port.

The complete prices of each model should be revealed closer to their launch and will depend on the region.
