HTC One (M8) now getting Android 4.4.3 KitKat update

“It looks like the HTC One (M8) will skip Android 4.4.4 and update directly to Android L in the future”

The Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC has confirmed that it is rolling out an Android 4.4.3 KitKat update for unlocked units of the One (M8) (review). The company’s Vice-President of Management, Mo Versi, has confirmed the update on Twitter. In addition, he also added that the company has incorporated the security fixes from Android 4.4.4 KitKat into the 4.4.3 update. It looks like the company might be skipping Android 4.4.4 and directly move on to Android L when it’s available.  HTC’s Product Manager Leigh Momii also posted an official change-log for the update on Twitter.

The update was already available for HTC One (M8) users on telecom operator Sprint in the US. The update contains nothing notable besides performance and bug fixes. The sze of the update is around 592MB, so it is recommended to use a Wi-Fi connection to update the phone.

The HTC One (M8) was launched running Android 4.4.2 KitKat. It offers a 5-inch full HD display with a pixel density of 441ppi. It is powered by a quad-core 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 processor, paired with 2GB of RAM. It offers a twin 4MP UltraPixel camera setup at the back. It has 16GB of internal storage, which you can expand further up to 128GB using a microSD card. Its other features include a 5MP front camera, a 2,600mAh battery and the usual connectivity features.

HTC recently released the plastic-clad cousin of the M8, the One (E8) in India. The company also announced that it would be releasing a software update for the HTC One (M8) in India on August 15th, which will enable 4G LTE support for the phone.
