iPhone 12 Pro Max? Here’s what the rumoured 6.7-inch iPhone without a notch could look like

Apple could phase-out the unsightly notch from its next-gen iPhone series if the latest leak is anything to go by. Ben Geskin, who is popular for making renders of upcoming smartphones, has shared a rendition of what the iPhone 2020 (is it the iPhone 12 Pro Max?) will look like without a notch. The tipster adds that the iPhone 12 Pro Max could feature a 6.7-inch OLED display, which is in line with previous leaks, paired with improved selfie camera and Face ID tech, placed inside the top bezel.

Steve Hemmerstoffer of @onleaks fame, who is responsible for leaking the iPhone 11 Pro design as early as January this year, however disagrees with the render. Replying to Geskin, Hemmerstoffer tweeted "Pathetic attempt to get some attention..." Hence, we'd advise you to take the news with a pinch of salt.

Public opinion on the notch has been divided ever since it was introduced back in 2017 with the iPhone X. Even the latest generation iPhone 11 series comes with a wide cut-out atop the screen that houses the selfie camera and Face ID tech. This may change from next year.

TFI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who has a great track record when it comes to Apple leaks, has said that the 2020 iPhones' metal frame will look similar to iPhone 4's industrial design. The latter features a metal and glass sandwich instead of the stainless steel on the modern-day iPhones. Owing to the design change of the Apple iPhones next-year, Kuo predicts that the cost of the metal frame and glass case will increase significantly by around 50-60 percent and 40-50, respectively. Other rumours for the 2020 iPhones include display with 120Hz refresh rate, in-display fingerprint sensor, 5G support, and 3D ToF sensor.
