This year’s Mobile World Congress aka MWC 2024 in Barcelona has concluded. The annual tech trade fair saw multiple product announcements and showcases from top brands. OEMs like Xiaomi and HONOR brought their A-game to compete with big-league flagships, while Samsung showcased its latest innovation in the wearable segment. There was some futuristic tech on display as well from the likes of Motorola. Here is a list of the top announcements we witnessed at MWC 2024.

Xiaomi 14 series global launch

Xiaomi launched its latest flagship, the Xiaomi 14 series, globally. The series includes Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Ultra for global markets. Powered with Leica co-engineered camera systems, the latest devices feature Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset and Xiaomi’s brand new Android 14-based HyperOS skin. The Xiaomi 14 starts at EUR 999, while the top-end Xiaomi 14 Ultra costs EUR 1,499. The vanilla Xiaomi 14 is set to launch in India on March 7th.

OnePlus Watch 2

OnePlus Watch 2 is the brand’s second attempt at a smartwatch. It comes with big upgrades, including a dual-engine architecture powered by two different processors, Snapdragon W5 for Wear OS and BES2700 for RTOS. Thanks to this, the smartwatch features a whopping 100-hour claimed battery life. The smartwatch will be sold in India starting March 4th at Rs 24,999.

Samsung Galaxy Ring

Samsung teased its entrance into a new category of wearables during the Galaxy S24 series launch in January. The Samsung Galaxy Ring was showcased in person at MWC 2024 for the first time, and the brand revealed some new details, such as the materials and sizes of the upcoming smart ring. It is expected to launch in July at the second Galaxy Unpacked event alongside the upcoming Galaxy Z series foldable.

HONOR Magic6 Pro

The HONOR Magic6 Pro is the brand’s latest flagship for the European market. It features a 180MP 2.5X periscope camera, which is a first for a smartphone. Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, the device features Android 14-based MagicOS 8.0 software with a big focus on AI functionalities. Other features include a 50MP front camera with a 3D depth sensor and a silicone-carbon-based 5,600mAh battery. The device costs EUR 1,299.

Nothing Phone (2a) design reveal

Nothing’s third smartphone was showcased at an event in Barcelona last week. The Nothing Phone (2a) is the London-based brand’s entry into the lower mid-range segment. Touted as a “clear upgrade” over the Nothing Phone (1) while being cheaper than the Phone (2), the device will take on the likes of Redmi Note 13 and Realme 12 Pro series in India. It will feature a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro chipset and is expected to come with 50MP dual cameras on the back. The phone is set to launch on March 5th at an event in New Delhi, India.

Lenovo ThinkBook Transparent Display laptop

Lenovo showed off a pretty incredible concept laptop with a transparent microLED panel at MWC 2024. The Lenovo ThinkBook Transparent Display laptop has a 17.3-inch see-through screen and a camera at the back, which enables AI features. A final product is not expected to make its way to the markets anytime soon, but the innovation did catch our eyes at the trade fair.

Motorola Bendable Phone

Another concept showcased at MWC 2024 was the Motorola bendable display smartphone. The phone takes flexibility to the next level, with the brand showcasing its ability to be worn even on the user’s wrists. It looks clunky but is much better than the first version showcased way back in 2016. Samsung Display also showcased a similar concept, which could mean that smartphone brands are considering introducing this category at some point in the future.

Tecno Camon 30 series

Tecno gave us a first look at its upcoming Tecno Camon 30 series, which includes four models in the lineup. The standout from this series is the Camon 30 Premier, which has a fresh design, MediaTek Dimensity 8200 Ultra chipset, 50MP primary camera, and 70W fast charging support. The device is expected to be available in the year’s second quarter and could enter the Indian market.
