Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset
- In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Don McGuire, the CMO at Qualcomm, shed some light on the upcoming Snapdragon Summit in October 2024.
- McGuire shares that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset will be revealed at the Snapdragon Summit in October 2024.
- The new chipset will feature Qualcomm's Oryon, which he claims to be a "supercharged CPU" along with some new NPU (Neural Processing Unit) improvements.
- If the CPU is really supercharged, it reaffirms the claims of an earlier leak where tipster DigitalChatStation could clock a maximum speed of 4GHz.
- As per a recent leak, the Xiaomi 15 series is likely to equip the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC.
- The ASUS Zenfone 11 was also spotted on the Google Play Console and features the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC.
Another new chip by Qualcomm
We recently spotted a new Realme device, with a Snapdragon 8 Gen series chipset with the codename "pineapple," which is associated with the 8 Gen 3 chip. The official moniker isn't known yet, but it could be the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Lite or 8s Gen 3 SoC.
The Adreno 735 GPU supports the chipset, and it has a maximum clock speed of up to 3.01 GHz. The chipset is tipped to register a sore around 1.7 million on AnTuTu. The Realme smartphone with the Snapdragon SM8635 chipset scored 1512 points in the single-core test, and 3799 in the multi-core test.
